Aquatic & Bog Plants
Plants can be sent to all states except Western Australia. All soil is washed from plants for Tasmania. All plants have information supplied for growing and usage.

Plants are posted Mondays & Tuesdays only and will take normal posting time, for delivery. Prices stated DO NOT include postage. Please add shipping before going to payments.

Height 2 metres.  Leaves used for animal fodder and mulch. Tuber eaten raw or cooked, has good flavour.  Commercial source for the easily digested starch.  Fast growing perennial, loves moisture.  Available all year.

Elephant Ears  (Alocasia macrorhiza)    Organic
Perennial to 1.5 metres with large green leaves, purple undersides and leaf stalks. Likes sheltered damp soils. Cream coloured, perfumed, boat shaped flowers. Leaves and flowers used in arrangements. Available all year.

Ferny Azolla  (Azolla pinnata)    Organic
Native perennial, ferny green leaves - size 3cm x 1cm, photosynthetic, nitrogen fixing algae. Keeps water cool,  creates shade, uses nutrients. Doubles leaf area in one week, scoop off for mulch, compost. Excellent in ponds.

Flag Iris   (Iris pseudacorus)    Organic
Hardy perennial to 1.5 metres, suitable for wet or water logged soils. Long lasting gold flowers with a network of purplish-brown line.

Water Chestnut - Chinese  (Eleocharis dulcis)    Organic
Aquatic bulb grown in tub, or large pot with no drainage, some soil, cover with water. Edible bulb, up to 4cm. Brown skin, white flesh, sweet nutty flavour, eat fresh or cooked. Very easy to grow, low maintenance. Excellent cropper, has potential as a commercial marketing line. 1 bulb can produce up to 1kg of food. Available June-October.

All plants have excess soil removed and are placed in a plastic bag with a compost mix or fibre.  When receiving plants remove from bag, plant in pots or ground, in a sheltered position.  Water well, gradually move to a sunny position.
