Dear Fellow Gardeners,
Welcome to our latest catalogue and hope that it finds you all well. The Spring/Summer growing season here, as with most of the East Coast was quite a difficult one to master. The weather made the tasks of planting, growing, seed harvesting and drying seeds more challenging and yet in the end we managed to have a successful season. During the dry periods we managed to collect seeds from several varieties of tomatoes, cucumber, pumpkin, basil & squash, just to name a few.
Greenpatch Organic Seeds is now in it's 20th year, celebrating growing and producing open pollinated non-hybrid seeds and useful plants. They have been available for distribution throughout Australia to gardeners and growers since 1993.
The many stepping stone achievements over the years have given us encourangement and helped strengthen our dedication and passion for providing a variety of good quality seeds, plants, gardening books, safer garden products and good service to all our customers.
“Producing Seeds & Plants for 20 years”
Our farm is certified with "Organically Grown Australia" (OGA) No 760a. We produce approximately 400 varieties of certified seed and plants annually which are available in this catalogue & online.
If you are travelling through/past Taree - please stop to visit us as we are only 900m from the freeway and, with the recent upgrades to our nursery and shop area, it makes Greenpatch a good place to have a stretch. There are also extensive gardens and growing areas to see. Yes, we have been open to the public for 10 years and you can visit us from Monday-Friday, 9am-4:30pm.
Seed to look out for in the catalogue are the coloured array of vegetables and edible plants. Also some excellent new garden products are available including 'Exclusion Bags' & Vegie Nets that keep fruit fly, birds, bats & cabbage moth out..
“Heritage varieties”
The majority of varieties listed are Heritage varieties, having been grown and established in Australia for over 40 years. The majority of seed listed is produced in Australia.
Much care and committment has been taken with seed production & quality. Our farm is used for the production of seeds. The balance comes from a selection of dedicated growers..
“Non-Hybrid, Non GMO”
Older varieties of seeds are special. They have characteristics of good flavour, higher nutritional value, strong genetic make-up, longer harvesting periods and maintain Bio-diversity, and of course you can save your own seed for next year's crop.
We thank all our customers and members for your support over the years, our dedicated and couragous seed suppliers and also our dedicated staff, who are very quick to help you in person, on the phone or by email.
May you have a great growing season with abundant harvests.
Best wishes,
Neville, Sophia & staff.
